Alpharetta PAL Guitar recital ‘raises the roof’ of City Hall

On May 20, 2009 the Alpharetta PAL Guitar program hosted its year-end recital at the City Hall council chambers. Alpharetta PAL Board member and Co-Chair, Councilman Jim Paine, suggested we move the recital from cramped quarters of the Eagle Village gym to the air-conditioned and acoustically-friendly City Council chambers at City Hall. The end result was absolutely fantastic! Thirteen of our guitar program participants performed masterfully in front of family members, media, peers, and other guests. Among those in attendance were Roswell Woman’s Club President Pat Tabickman, City Councilman John Monson, and Revue & News GM Tony De Faria.

We were all treated to a ‘mini jam-session’ as the students participating in the Advance Guitar class performed their own version of Green Days’ “Boulevard of Broken Dreams”. Will, Jake, Kyle, and Michael really showed some skills. Alpharetta PAL is very proud of all the students that participated in program over the course of the year, and we hope to see them during ‘Jam Camp’ this summer! Be sur to check out the rest of the photos from the recital!

The PAL Guitar program will continue on Thursdays throughout the summer, in a session we call “Jam Camp”. Our Guitar Instructor, Owen Griffith, enlists the support of the anyone in the community who may have musical prowess to assist with the Jam Camp. If you would like to volunteer your time for Jam Camp, please email Officer Jason Cimino at jcimino@alpharetta.ga.us
